We had been preparing a presentation about worldschooling for several days because a number of Japanese parents were interested. We went to a large meeting building where we presented the slideshow and while I doubt we persuade many in if any, viewers, it was till a unique experience. Afterwards, we travelled to a Japanese woman’s house. The woman had four kids, two of whom we knew quite well as they visit our house often. We made a bonfire outside which we roasted marshmallows and sausages over. Tristan – the Spanish guy we‘d been living with – challenged me to the bamboo sword fight and lost quite badly. This may have partially been due to the fact that my weapon was much longer than his but I prefer to attribute it to the fencing experience I have. We nearly got run over several times by Lyn, from the Netherlands, because she had somehow gotten the inspiration to attempt to ride a bike sitting backwards. While this was happening, my brothers were playing with the other kids, and after my battle was over, I began a new one, this time against shorter opponents.
